WebDEVICES USED IN SOLID STATE Phase control DIMMERS • Several types of solid-state devices are used in phase control dimmers. • The main type of device used is known as a Thyristor. Thyristors include SCR’s and Triacs. • Recently, transistors such as FET’s and IGBT’s have been used in place of thyristors. SCR Pair Triac FET Pair IGBT Pair WebThe evolution of dimmable LED lighting is an ongoing subject and phase-cut dimming is often dissatisfactory. While some weaknesses may be acceptable in residential …
WebAlso commonly known as "Triac Dimming", "SCR Dimming", and Forward Phase control dimming, Forward Phase dimming control is the most common form of phase dimming. It uses a silicon device, usually an SCR or a Triac, to turn the mains waveform on part way through its cycle. By varying the point at which the WebThese two types of phase cutting dimmer get their names from the part of the AC wave that they cut off.
