You need an antenna with lower Q, so that it's closer to resonant across more frequencies. The low Q is desirable in that case. The DB224 is a 4 stacked dipole array spaced about 3/4 wavelength center to center. That actually does give you 6 dBd gain (referenced to a dipole) omnidirectional when the elements are staggered around the mast.
