WebJul 5, 2024 · Remove the propeller. If I remember correctly, you undo the two bolts holding the rear housing in place and the housing and the shaft just fall out. WebFeb 6, 2008 · My measurements are -. Prop shaft - 20mm. Stern tube - 35mm. I assume they are mm rather than inch size. The boat is an MG Spring from 1989. Engine Yanmar 1GM10. Anyone know of a dripless seal that would fit. I assume that the Volvo is just too big as theirs start at 25mm. 5mm is a big gap for this type of fitting.

I will attempt to replace this bearing as it is slightly pitted inside and since I'm getting a new prop shaft I'd rather change everything. - but not sure it can be removed - depending on seal choice, I may replace with cutless.

WebJul 9, 2013 · DF 140 hp Suzuki. This procedure also covers the 90 & 115 Hp. I had found some water in my gear oil. It was leaking up high so I didn't change or replace anything in the lower hub. This is to replace the Drive shaft seals and o-rings as well as the clutch rod seal and o-ring. If anyone wants to tackle this seal replacement job, it's not so bad.

Remove the old seal. I used a 5/16" end wrench, but a short 5/16" socket would probably fit too. Put the new gland in and tighten both hose clamps. The prop shaft seals have stainless springs in them that can fail from salt water attack but as you are in fresh water then they should be fine. My port prop seal failed june 2000.
